What happened
Azul Tech is now an accredited OpenCRVS implementer. OpenCRVS is an open source civil registration and vital statistics platform built for governments, and accreditation means the firm has demonstrated it can deploy and support it to the standard the programme requires.

Civil registration is the root of the entire Azul Stack. A birth record is what makes a legal identity possible, and a legal identity is what makes every entitlement, payment, and public service downstream of it possible. Get the registry wrong and every layer above it inherits the error.
Accreditation is a statement about that root. It says the civil registration work Azul Tech delivers with national partners is built on a platform designed for the purpose, implemented by a team assessed against the programme's own bar, rather than assembled from scratch behind a closed door.
The problem it solves
Governments buying civil registration systems face a hard choice. A bespoke build ties the country to whoever wrote it. A closed product ties the country to whoever sells it. Both leave the state holding a service rather than a system.
An open platform with accredited implementers breaks that. The country owns the software, the specification is public, and more than one team is competent to run it. If the relationship with any single supplier ends, the registry does not.
What it changes for a citizen
None of this is visible at the counter, which is the point. What a citizen sees is a birth certificate that can be issued without a physical archive search, a record that survives a flood or a fire because it is not only paper, and an identity that other agencies can verify without asking the citizen to prove it again.
